Porcelain Crown
Statesville, NC

Rendering of jaw with porcelain crown at Fern Creek Dentistry.Damaged teeth, no matter where they are located in your mouth, need to be repaired. The biggest difference in repairing teeth at the front of the mouth versus those near the back is that the front teeth are much more visible. They’re typically one of the very first things that people notice. At Fern Creek Dentistry, we can repair damaged front teeth and improve your smile with porcelain crowns.

Crowns for Front Teeth

We provide several options when it comes to dental crowns. Some of these options are made to not only restore damaged teeth but to improve their appearance and your smile as well. Dental crowns that can achieve both of these goals include resin crowns, porcelain fused to metal crowns, or crowns that are made entirely from ceramic or porcelain. These crowns are made to look just like the rest of your natural teeth, meaning that no one will be able to tell the difference between the restorations and the rest of the teeth in your mouth.

Crowns Vs Veneers

Dental crowns and dental veneers are both treatments used to address cosmetic imperfections in your front teeth. Some may be confused as to what type of treatment they need when it comes to addressing damaged teeth. They both provide a perfectly natural appearance. Both require the removal of a portion of tooth enamel and generally need two appointments for placement. The biggest difference between the two is what they treat. Veneers are used solely to treat cosmetic issues while crowns restore the health, functionality, and appearance of affected teeth.

What Type of Crown is Best for the Front Teeth?

With several options when it comes to crowns for your front teeth, how do you know which one is the best? Resin crowns are the most affordable, but they are far from the strongest. Porcelain fused to metal crowns and all porcelain or ceramic crowns are much stronger. Those that are made entirely from porcelain or ceramic do not have any metals, meaning they are ideal for those with allergies. You also do not have to worry about potentially having a dark line showing through the coating, which can otherwise give your restoration away. If you are looking for a crown that matches the rest of your natural teeth, all porcelain or all ceramic crowns provide the greatest aesthetic benefits while still providing your teeth with the protection needed.

How Much Do Crowns Cost?

The cost of a crown will vary. Typically, those made entirely from ceramic or porcelain can cost anywhere from $800 to $3,000 per tooth. Typically, cosmetic procedures are not covered by dental insurance because they are only meant to improve your smile and not necessarily your oral health. However, all ceramic or all porcelain crowns are not just a cosmetic treatment. They are also provided to help restore the health of a damaged tooth. For this reason, they are often at least partially covered. If you are unsure of whether or not your crown will be covered, contact your dental insurance provider.
